a strenuous campaign

Nowadays, my mailboxes, like probably everyone else’s, is constantly flooded with all sorts of emails, political campaigns, petitions, push for the selling of products and services, emails stating "you could win "this or that" and, worst of all, spam emails. It has become a very time-consuming work to sift through the hundreds of electronic correspondence, separating the good stuff from drivel, the unsolicited, in short, the junk.

For anyone looking for employment, email responses to job applications or, for that matter, the invitations to interviews are scant, if any. It is like being stranded into a desert and desperately looking for water, knowing that, bare a miracle, it is near to impossible, considering the state of the market and the political climate.

I have been looking for work for almost five years, give or take a few months. The exercise is exceedingly strenuous and there seems to be no end in sight, no light in the darkness. It all amounts to a fool's errand.

But what is extremely insulting is the cavalier attitude that companies adopt. It appears that any ounce of respect or consideration for applicants who have taken the time and effort to send cv and fill arduous online forms, is beneath them.

The whole system is excruciating, it seems to be a pitiless machinery primarily designed to grind one into despair, to squelch one’s spirit to ruins, until one feels utterly spent and becomes numb to the outside world. The world becomes, in fact, so scary that one withdraws into himself, into the remoteness of his own mind, a dejected self, bound by depression and anxiety to his home which represents a sanctuary, if an illusory one, from the abruptness, the furor and noises of the outside.

It seems that I am mired in a sort of stagnated state, a state of limbo, as it were, in which nothing really happens, from which I cannot extirpate myself and in which people look at me as if I was a strange animal in a zoo.

I have lost the art of looking for a job, although, I am not certain that I ever possessed it.

I am like one of those eerie creature who spent year in a cave, in utter darkness and who have lost the use of  their eyes.

Job interviews, as rare as such opportunities happens, are alien affairs during which I fumble miserably and lose my footing.

My mind, ever busy, churns over milling, chaotic thoughts, and my body stands still, paralyzed by confusion and gloom, as if imprisoned by the soul in dismay.

Will all the politics chaos that has reigned since the 2016 referendum, The storm is coming by which the United Kingdom is to secede from a Union that has proved, since the World War II end of hostilities, to be benevolent and, most of all, the preserver of peace on the European continent. This storm brings in its wake many woes that will wreck havoc, make no mistake, upon this country beside disenfranchising a large portion of the population, people who have worked, paid taxes and contributed one way or another to the economy but who are forsaken by this government and its clique of Tory privileged elite.

In effect, this government, by clinging to power with all means possible and being dead on to implementing BREXIT, no matter what, are nothing but agent of chaos. They'd rather face utter disaster than admit their error and allow BREXIT to be cancelled.
