Wemyss Bay to Largs

Wemyss Bay to Largs

Here I was again, leaving Wemyss Bay railway station and riding on my bike towards Largs with my photography gear, on this hazy February afternoon.

It had been a spur of the moment that I stirred, that day, after weeks of self withdrawal and dejection, and it was almost a relief to spring to action.

I was basking in the faint and momentary warmth that a winter sun afforded and which was toned down by the capricious breath of a cold wind.

It was a simple journey, albeit one with many stops along the road to reconnoiter locations for taking photographs.

Once I had reached Largs and indulged in a hot dog and drink, I started riding back in what could be called a race against the clock to get to the potential places where I would be able to catch, so to speak, the sunset and to frame jagged rocks, water and sky in a long exposure picture frame before dusk, all else being just an afterthought.

But for all that, I almost failed to accomplish what I wanted, finding it hard to find the perfect spot and concentrating on small details instead of looking at the big picture, pun intended, as the sun went lower and lower and became a bright rose colored disk before finally vanishing.
