Welcome to L’Œil et la Plume—the Eye and the pen—a personal space where photography meets prose, and where looking becomes a form of writing. I’m Serge Chabert, and this blog is both a visual journal and a written reflection, a place where I explore the world through the twin lenses of observation and expression.

Each photograph shared here is more than an image—it’s a captured moment, a question, sometimes a memory. Through l’œil, I frame the world as I see it: textured, layered, imperfect, and full of nuance. Through la plume, I attempt to articulate what can’t be seen—the moods, the meanings, the silences between images. Together, they offer a kind of dialogue between presence and interpretation, between stillness and story.

Pas à pas

The subtitle of this project might well be “pas à pas”—step by step—because this blog reflects a deliberate pace. It’s not about immediacy or spectacle; it’s about slowing down and finding resonance in the quiet details. Whether I’m capturing a foggy morning, a face in a crowd, or writing about the shifting landscapes of thought and place, this space is where I pause, observe, and try to make sense of it all.

Thank you for visiting. I hope L’Œil et la Plume invites you to see more deeply, and to read between the lines of the visible world.
